O terceiro álbum decisivo de Bruce Springsteen representou um salto sonoro em relação aos dois primeiros, feitos por quantias modestas em um estúdio suburbano; Born to Run foi cortado com um orçamento de superstar, principalmente no Record Plant em Nova York.
